How does it kill the cows? It seems to just trap them in a box. Are they supposed to die to entity cramming or something?

I don't understand how, on top, you feed them but noting to put them at the bottom to be burn, is there a trick about your farm ? because like this, it's a cool show to see cows just traps between glasses
