This is a shay type geared locomotive. In real life the steam engine on the side was connected to the wheel via gears and shafts through a big reduction, making these engines slow, but very powerful. They also are excellent on tight turns due to their separated bogies and therefore most often found on logging railways. Fueling this engine to make it faster is not recommended, for realism the max speed should be about 50% in the schedule.
