Just add water to the water wheels then flip the lever on the other other side to send the miner down. When the miner stops at bedrock flip the lever again to send the miner up. once the miner reaches the top it will unload everything it got and sort it.
WARNING. This schematic uses "Mccaw's bridges" if you don't have this mod installed it should still work just set the cannon to "skip missing blocks"
