Iron Farm 3560/h Compact 7x10x8
Description
Takes 19400SU
Makes 3560 iron per hour
(rate is calculated off of 4 sets of max speed crushing wheels as each set can make 890 iron ingots worth of gravel per hour, my actual observed rates were more like 4000 an hour but that's just how things are with rng based recipes. 3560/h should be the correct number).
Based off of Triobians MK2 Iron Generator. I wasn't content with his design and felt it could be substantially compressed. I also added the following features.
Production of both ingots and blocks and large vault storages for both of them.
Higher rates due to a larger cobble gen, added set of crushing wheels, and additional washing fan.
Only one power input to run both cobble gen and iron farm.
A shutoff switch as well as automatic shutoff when full, when shut off in this way the cobblestone input will be turned off first and then the crushers and washers will be turned off 20 seconds later to make sure there's no loose stacks of cobble or gravel sitting around after a shutdown.
This build is definitely pound for pound more expensive to build than Triobians, adding features and compressing things means more blocks and more expensive blocks. I just wanted to make something as compact as I could no matter the cost. (On this note the height could probably be reduced by 2 blocks using extra mods for pipes or vacuums or something. And the 8 wide dimension could be reduced by 1 simply by removing the glass trapdoors that keep water from getting everywhere up at the pumps, it works while spilling its just messy. or just put it up against a wall boom 7x10x7)
Using the schematicannon breaks a few things, because of this I tried to write down instructions on how to get the generator up and running after its shot out of the cannon on signs in the build. However to recap here.
Break and Replace all the tanks and vaults (tanks are up top, vaults are the big blue rectangles that keep items)
Waterlog all of the pumps (under the tanks)
Waterlog the leaves (they can be accessed from under the build or you can break and replace the glass)
Place water on top of the two fans that you can crawl on top of through the maintenance hatch on the left side of the build
Place lava in the cauldron on the right side
Place lava in all of the tanks (just needs one bucket each)
Crank the handcrank attached to the piston in the bottom right corner, just a tiny crank to make it into a construct, then go ahead and hold crouch while you crank it back into the position it was originally
Hook up your input power shaft to the left gearbox with the sign (The build requires 19400su at any rpm)
Something weird to note about this build is that the cobble generator seems to need inventories under the andesite funnels even when its running and is unable to access those inventories (that's why I have barrels along that whole surface). So long as the cobble generator is running no items will be put into those inventories from the contraption and will instead be spit out the side through the brass funnel and barrel on the gantry. However when its turned off a few cobblestone that were falling before it became stationary may go into the inventories, Because of this you might want to replace the barrels with trashcans if your modpack has them. That will probably work better as there is a theoretical possibility that after turning the cobble generator on and off over and over a several hundred times the barrels might fill up and will need to be manually emptied. (This is also an issue that my build has that the original by Triobian does not)
Also when the build is shut off you will probably lose a few iron ingots out the right side due to their intake turning off from a redstone signal that is unfortunately right next to it.
Found out that the create mod item throughput using belts tunnels and displays is highly inaccurate and was giving me the wrong reading for output. Using carpet mod I found out the build was actually only putting out 2700 iron per hour and had a bottleneck. I fixed this and submitted a fixed version that puts out the correct rates.
